Leandro Trossard Joins Besiktas After Arsenal Stint

Leandro Trossard’s Arsenal chapter is over. The next one starts on the Bosphorus.

The 31-year-old Belgium international has completed a permanent move from Arsenal to Besiktas, swapping north London for Istanbul in a deal reported at £15.3 million (RM84.3 million). For a player who arrived at the Emirates in January 2023 from Brighton, it draws a firm line under a brisk but influential spell in red and white.

Trossard did not linger in the shadows during his time with the Gunners. Across all competitions he pulled on the shirt 174 times, scoring 36 goals and supplying 34 assists. Those numbers tell only part of the story: he became one of Mikel Arteta’s most adaptable attacking options, capable of operating across the front line, knitting together moves and unsettling defences with his sharp movement and low, skidding finishes.

His most enduring legacy at Arsenal will sit in the honours column. Trossard was part of the side that finally dragged the Premier League trophy back to the Emirates last season, ending a title drought that had stretched for more than two decades. In a campaign defined by fine margins, his contributions in key moments helped tip tight games Arsenal’s way and kept the title charge on track.

By the time he leaves, he does so as a World Cup player and a champion. Trossard featured for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup, adding another layer of experience to a career that has steadily climbed from the Belgian leagues to the Premier League and now to one of Turkey’s most demanding clubs.

“Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Leo for his valued contribution to the club and wish him all the best for his future,” the club said in a statement.

Besiktas now gain a seasoned, technically polished winger with a winner’s medal and a recent Premier League title on his CV. Arsenal lose a reliable, versatile forward but free up funds and space in a squad still evolving under Arteta.

The Premier League chapter is closed. The next test for Trossard comes under the floodlights of the Turkish Super Lig, where expectations will be immediate and unforgiving.
