Burnley Managerial Search Reset After Craig Bellamy Decision
Craig Bellamy will not be the next Burnley manager, with the proposed move collapsing as the club turn sharply towards alternative candidates.
The Wales boss, who only recently stepped into the national team role, had ruled out a switch to Celtic but was understood to be more receptive to the idea of leading Burnley following their relegation from the Premier League. That prospect has now evaporated.
According to Sky Sports News, Burnley have moved on and are focusing on other names, with Steve Cooper and Rob Edwards among those under consideration. Edwards is available after his recent dismissal by Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Cooper remains a prominent figure in the market after his own Premier League experience.
Bellamy knows Burnley well. He previously worked at Turf Moor as Vincent Kompany’s assistant, part of the staff that guided the club back to the top flight before Kompany left for Bayern Munich. That connection fuelled speculation he could be the man to lead the next chapter.
Instead, Burnley’s hierarchy are back at the decision point that will shape their immediate future. Relegated, reshuffled and still searching, they need a manager who can finally steady a club that has bounced between the Premier League and Championship since the 2021/22 season.
The next appointment will decide whether Burnley remain stuck on that yo-yo, or snap the string.
