Alex Scott Pushes for Chelsea Move Amid Bournemouth's Stance

Alex Scott wants Chelsea. That much is clear.

Chelsea have already seen a £64million offer turned away by Bournemouth for the midfielder, but the 22-year-old is understood to be keen on the move as the London club step up their pursuit.

Bournemouth, though, are holding the line. The south-coast side insist Scott is not for sale and are trying to secure his future with a new contract, emboldened by a season in which he emerged as one of their standout performers on the way to Europa League qualification under Andoni Iraola, now in charge at Liverpool.

The problem for Bournemouth is that Scott has no intention of signing fresh terms.

He was first offered a new deal in March, with the club confident they could persuade the former Bristol City midfielder to commit long term. Talks have since slowed to a crawl, and the player’s stance has hardened as interest from Stamford Bridge has intensified.

Chelsea’s push is partly about timing. They want to move quickly to fend off other heavyweights circling around one of England’s most highly regarded young midfielders.

Arsenal and Manchester City have both been credited with an interest in Scott. Neither, however, has made a formal approach, leaving Chelsea at the front of the queue for now.

Scott’s rise has already taken him close to the international stage. He missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad but was called up to train with the senior group before the tournament began, a sign of how highly he is rated within the national set-up.

At Chelsea, he is viewed as a key part of the planned refresh of Thomas Tuchel’s squad after their bruising semi-final exit to Argentina. The club want more energy, more legs, more creativity in midfield. Scott fits that profile.

The need becomes sharper when set against Enzo Fernandez’s situation.

Fernandez has made it clear he wants to leave, and Chelsea have slapped a £120m price tag on the Argentine. Head coach Alonso has publicly stated he wants to keep the 25-year-old, but with Real Madrid ruling out a move for the former Benfica man, there is no obvious bidder on the horizon.

So Chelsea wait. Scott waits. Bournemouth resist.

One side wants to build around him, another wants to build with him, and the player himself appears ready for the next step. How long can Bournemouth keep the door bolted?
