Real Madrid Plans €150m Bid for Bayern Star Michael Olise

Florentino Pérez is preparing to put a gálactico back at the heart of his campaign – and Michael Olise is the name at the centre of it.

If Pérez wins re-election as Real Madrid president this weekend, the club are ready to launch a €150m (£130m) bid for the Bayern Munich winger, a statement of intent after two trophyless seasons and a direct response to the ambitious promises of his rival, Enrique Riquelme.

Election battle, transfer arms race

The presidential contest in Madrid has become a transfer auction in all but name. Riquelme has tried to seize the spotlight with a pledge to sign Erling Haaland, a promise that has already provoked the threat of legal action from Manchester City. Pérez, never one to be outdone in the realm of marquee signings, has answered with the prospect of another gálactico.

Speaking to Spanish media on Thursday, the long-serving president teased a huge bid for a top-tier star next week, insisting he was not referring to Olise. Behind the scenes, though, the 22-year-old Frenchman is understood to be exactly the player Madrid intend to chase if Pérez stays in power.

There is also admiration at the Bernabéu for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Joao Neves, but the hierarchy expect Olise to be the priority once the ballots are counted.

Olise, from Palace talent to Bayern phenomenon

Olise’s rise has been rapid and ruthless. Since leaving Crystal Palace for Bayern in 2024, he has transformed from Premier League prospect into one of Europe’s most devastating attackers.

Under Vincent Kompany, he has helped Bayern to two Bundesliga titles, driving their attack with the kind of authority and end product that forces elite clubs to redraw their transfer plans. His form has made him a central figure for France heading into the World Cup, and his numbers and influence in Germany now place him firmly among the most coveted wide forwards in the game.

Bayern saw this coming. That is why his contract runs until 2029. They built their next era around him.

Bayern dig in: “unsellable”

Madrid know this will be a fight. Bayern have no intention of opening the door, let alone rolling out the red carpet.

Uli Hoeness, the club’s honorary president, has already set the tone, describing Olise as “unsellable” and drawing a clear line in the sand as speculation grows around the player’s future.

José Mourinho, whose return to the Madrid dugout will be finalised if Pérez is re-elected, has not hidden his admiration. The Portuguese coach was in the stands last month when Bayern beat Stuttgart in the German Cup final, a conspicuous presence as Olise shone on one of the biggest domestic stages in Germany. For a coach who thrives on big personalities and big moments, the attraction is obvious.

The message from Madrid is equally clear: if Pérez stays, they will test Bayern’s resolve with a bid that drags the saga into the heart of the summer window.

A new galáctico era in waiting

Real Madrid are not used to going two seasons without a trophy. The frustration has been simmering, and this summer is being framed as a reset.

Deals are already in place to bring in Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer and Netherlands defender Denzel Dumfries from Internazionale, moves that add steel and depth to the back line. Those signings, though, are the undercard.

Olise is the headline act Pérez wants – the kind of signing that defines a presidency, re-energises a stadium and signals to Europe that Madrid intend to sit at the top table again, not just in reputation but in raw firepower.

Now it comes down to votes in Madrid, resistance in Munich, and whether €150m is enough to prise one of Bayern’s most important players out of a contract designed to keep him exactly where he is.
