Kim Min-jae's Future: Juventus Leads Manchester United Interest

Kim Min-jae has landed back on the Premier League radar – but the road out of Munich may still run through Turin first.

According to Bild football chief Christian Falk, the Bayern Munich centre-back is being closely monitored by Manchester United as they search for defensive reinforcements. United’s interest is real, but at this stage they are watching the situation rather than driving it.

The front of the queue belongs to Juventus.

Italian reports have been stronger still. La Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed the 29-year-old has already given his approval to a move to the Serie A giants, a switch that would see him reunited with Luciano Spalletti, the coach under whom he produced the best football of his career at Napoli. That relationship, and Kim’s dominance in Italy during his title-winning season in Naples, gives Juve a powerful selling point.

For United, that creates a waiting game. If Juventus manage to close the deal, Old Trafford never enters the equation. If the move stalls, the door opens. Only then, the reports suggest, would United be ready to step in and explore a transfer for the South Korea international.

There is another complication: Bayern.

Kim is not agitating for a move. Despite fierce competition for places and spells out of the starting XI, he is described as content with his status as a squad player at the Bundesliga champions. Bayern, for their part, are under no pressure to sell and would need convincing that letting him go makes sense in a season where depth at the back could define their campaign.

So the picture is clear enough. Juventus are pushing. Manchester United are lurking. Bayern Munich still hold the cards – and for now, Kim Min-jae is not forcing their hand.
