Josh Yaro Joins AC Boise on Loan for 2026 Season
St. Louis CITY SC defender Josh Yaro will finish the 2026 campaign in USL League One, after sealing a loan move to Athletic Club Boise for the remainder of the season.
The 31-year-old centre-back has been part of the St. Louis project from its early days. He joined the organization in 2022, anchored the back line for CITY2 and helped drive the club’s second team to the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference title. That run earned him a promotion to the first team in 2023, where he became one of the dependable squad pieces in the expansion side’s rise.
Inside the club, Yaro’s influence has stretched well beyond matchdays. Sporting Director Corey Wray underlined that presence as the move was confirmed.
“Josh has been with the club from the beginning and has always been a great teammate, stepping up whenever needed both on and off the pitch,” Wray said. “He has embraced the city and consistently made an impact through numerous community initiatives, which speaks to the person he is. We are excited that he now has an opportunity to get consistent minutes in a competitive team and wish him and AC Boise the best for the remainder of the season.”
For St. Louis, the deal opens a pathway for one of their original leaders to find regular minutes at a crucial stage of his career. For AC Boise, it brings in a seasoned professional who has already proven he can steady a back line and guide a young locker room through a long season.
Yaro now trades MLS surroundings for a different kind of grind in USL League One, with a clear mandate: play, lead, and show he can still shape games from the heart of defense.
