Deniz Undav Sets Deadline for Stuttgart Contract Talks

Deniz Undav has set the clock ticking on Stuttgart.

The VfB striker, whose rise has mirrored the club’s own resurgence, wants his future settled before he boards a plane with the German national team for the World Cup in two weeks. According to Bild, Undav has drawn a clear line in the sand: he expects clarity by Tuesday, June 2.

After that, football comes first. Contract talks go on ice.

Once he joins up with Germany and flies to the United States, Undav intends to shut out off‑pitch noise and lock in on the tournament. Any unresolved negotiations with Stuttgart would be pushed back until after the World Cup.

VfB, for their part, are under pressure to move. The report states the club plans to table a fresh offer before the weekend. So far, Stuttgart are said to have put an annual salary of between €5.5 million and €6 million on the table, a significant jump from his current reported wage of around €4.5 million. On top of that, a signing-on fee of €3 million is lined up as a sweetener.

It still hasn’t done the trick.

Undav, whose goals have turned him into one of the most coveted attacking figures in Germany, has not yet been convinced by the package. The numbers are big, the gesture clear, but the agreement is missing.

So the situation sharpens into a simple equation: Stuttgart have a few days to find the offer that matches their No. 9’s status and ambition. If they fail, the talks pause, the World Cup takes over – and the door, at least for a while, stays half-open.

Can the Swabians close the deal before the deadline their striker has drawn? The next few days will give the answer.
